A moment of inspiration
a striking line
a calling to meters above.
Movements that scream finesse
or micro holds that silently tell you to balance on the edge for dear life
A climb worth fighting for.
Something beyond your ability now
a belief that there is more within
capable of something we have not done before.
We climb the grades of life, through career, love, and material possessions, but nothing is more valiant than the battle within. Nothing holds a greater value than belief in oneself that a goal out of reach can become within reach. It is an internal struggle between believing something is too hard, but at the same time it is possible. It is in fighting for what is possible that the limits of the material world are broken down into more temporary successes.
Where the greatest struggle reaches is, in fact, self doubt. Telling yourself that something is out of reach and confronting that statement through pushing this limit over and over.
We look back on the years and take for granted how far we have come. Surely this place wasn’t where we saw ourselves? It would have been so hard to imagine back then. And, through this project, we redefine our limit. We redefine our self worth.
It’s fighting through sustained movement - a pump that pushes our fitness up higher and higher as the days and weeks of climbing go on. It’s a sense of self-confidence that can only be earned through this personal journey, told by the movements on the wall, or a problem that roadblocks our life.
Everything above and below this problem clicks. Most of it makes sense, but this piece of the wall does not. This piece takes imagination, self-discovery, and an understanding of the broader context. This piece can be a shutdown - it can stand between us and self-acceptance.
It can also be over-passed, like most of life. But, many of us believe we deserve more, so we fight to understand and make sense of such roadblocks. Because, when it connects, we feel whole. This is a climb worth fighting for.
The screams and shouts become louder as we climb higher and fight further to redefine our limit - a balancing act on the wall of self-acceptance and drive. The community congratulates us on our shortcomings, but simultaneously drives us to ask more of ourselves. Community. Support. Acceptance. Drive - all foundational pillars of success on this personal journey.
We process the problem. We visualize the sequence. We gather the information and mull it over and over. We talk it out loud, and internalize it within. Sometimes it never connects anywhere but on the wall.
The struggle has been solved before, methods and technique passed down through experience – both ours and theirs. But ultimately, this is our own journey; input can be useless until it clicks and connects within.
For some, this is a temporary journey that ends as soon as it starts. For others, the climb does not end at a particular grade or level of physical achievement. It is an ongoing climb that battles the gravity of self-doubt and the push for self-acceptance. It is a battle of endurance to break through the weight of life’s inherent struggle. It's a test of our fitness as we continue to endure longer and more sustained battles while simply enjoying where we are in that moment.
The moment pushes us to solve that singular problem and connect a sequence that causes us to fall at the same place over and over. It brings tears, screams and pain, smiles, laughter and love. This is a climb worth fighting for.
